Gallery

Overview

Gallery is a vibrant community platform where TeX64 users share their LaTeX work and inspire one another. From academic theses and conference presentations to business documents and artistic posters, the Gallery showcases a diverse range of professional and creative LaTeX projects. By browsing and discovering documents from other users, you can learn new techniques, find inspiration for your own projects, and contribute your expertise to help the wider TeX64 community grow and thrive.

The Gallery functions as the beating heart of TeX64 - not merely a posting platform, but an active learning community where LaTeX enthusiasts exchange advanced typesetting techniques, design patterns, and creative approaches. With powerful tagging, search, and filtering capabilities, plus trending algorithms that surface the best work, finding exactly what you need is intuitive and rewarding.

Posting

Sharing your LaTeX work with the Gallery community is straightforward and rewarding. The posting process begins with uploading your compiled PDF file, which serves as the visual preview that introduces your work to other users. Following the PDF, you upload your TeX source code, enabling the community to learn from your techniques, examine your implementation details, and adapt your solutions to their own projects.

Each post includes a title, detailed description, relevant tags, and visibility settings. The description field is particularly important - here you should explain your document's purpose, the key packages and techniques you used, any challenges you faced, and how you solved them. This context transforms your post from a simple file share into a valuable learning resource for the entire community.

File Size Limits

To ensure fast loading and efficient storage, file size limits are enforced: PDFs may be up to 20MB, and TeX source code up to 500,000 characters. Most documents fall well within these limits, but if your project includes many high-resolution images, pay attention to PDF size. For the source code, rather than including every asset, focus on the core .tex file and provide brief comments explaining the architecture and key techniques.

Posting Limits

Posting limits are tier-based to maintain community quality and prevent abuse. Additionally, a daily posting cap ensures that the Gallery feed remains diverse and that no single user can dominate the feed with rapid-fire uploads.

Post Structure

Each Gallery post is composed of several key elements that work together to present your work effectively. The title is your first impression - it should be descriptive and searchable. The description is your opportunity to provide context, explain your technical approach, and highlight what makes your document unique or instructive.

Tags categorize your post and make it discoverable through search and filtering. Visibility settings let you choose between making your post public (visible in the Gallery to all users) or link-only (viewable only by those with the direct link). The PDF preview displays as a thumbnail, giving visitors an immediate visual impression of your work. Your TeX source code is permanently archived, available for download and study by interested users.

Tags

Tags are the connective tissue of Gallery discovery. With up to 8 tags per post, you can comprehensively categorize your work across different dimensions. Tags describe content type, subject matter, techniques used, and packages employed. Well-chosen tags dramatically increase the chance that users searching for content like yours will discover your post.

Common tag categories include: document types (thesis, dissertation, report, book, poster), presentation styles (beamer, slides, handout, presentation), academic fields (physics, mathematics, biology, engineering, chemistry), specialized packages (tikz, pgfplots, asymptote, chemfig), design approaches (minimalist, academic, colorful, creative), and language focus (multilingual, arabic, chinese, japanese).

When selecting tags, balance specificity with breadth. A tag like "thesis" is broadly useful, while "physics-thesis" is more precise. Including both generic and specific tags helps your post appear in both wide searches and narrow, targeted queries. Take time to choose tags thoughtfully - they directly impact how discoverable your work becomes.

Feed & Discovery

The Gallery feed serves as a curated window into the latest work shared by the TeX64 community. Each page displays 20 posts, and pagination allows you to browse chronologically through the catalog. The feed shows only publicly visible posts; link-only posts remain private to those with the direct link. By default, the feed is sorted by recency, ensuring you always see the latest contributions first.

To make the feed more useful, you can filter by tags. Clicking on a tag shows all posts with that tag. You can combine multiple tag filters simultaneously for more targeted searches - for instance, filtering by both "physics" and "tikz" displays only documents featuring TikZ diagrams within physics contexts. This layered filtering helps you zero in on exactly the kind of content you're seeking.

Trending

The Trending section surfaces the most engaging and popular content in the Gallery, personalized to your interests. The trending algorithm combines multiple signals - likes, saves, comments, and recency - to identify which posts are generating the most community enthusiasm right now.

Trending uses time-weighted scoring, so recent posts get a boost while older posts gradually fade. This ensures the feed stays fresh and current, yet truly excellent work never disappears. By checking Trending, you get a pulse on what's energizing the community right now - which new techniques are generating excitement, which classic problems people are solving, and whose work is resonating most strongly.

Search

The Gallery search function lets you efficiently find exactly what you're looking for. You can search by post title, author name, keywords in descriptions, and tags. Search is full-text and supports multiple keywords. For instance, searching for "beamer template" will find posts with those terms in their title, description, or tags. Combining search keywords with tag filters gives you powerful precision for locating relevant content.

Search results are ranked first by relevance to your query, then by popularity. The most closely matching posts appear first, and when multiple posts have equal relevance, those with more likes and saves rank higher. Search is case-insensitive and returns synonymous variations, making it easy to find content regardless of how you phrase your query.

Likes & Saves

Each Gallery post features Like and Save buttons. Liking is a simple way to show your appreciation and support for quality work. Authors see their like count and use it to gauge how their work resonates with the community. Likes are public and visible to all users - they contribute to a post's visibility and ranking.

Saving adds a post to your personal collection for later reference. Your saved posts are accessible anytime from your profile's Saved section, organized and easily retrievable. Saves are completely private - only you see them. Use this feature to curate reference materials, collect inspiration, build a library of learning examples, and maintain a personalized resource collection tailored to your interests and projects.

Following

Community in the Gallery thrives through personal connections. Follow users whose work inspires you, and their new posts automatically appear in your dedicated Following feed. This personalized stream shows you content from creators you care about, in chronological order, making it easy to stay updated on their latest contributions.

Your Following feed displays posts exclusively from users you follow, keeping you connected with your favorite creators. User profiles display follower and following counts, giving you a sense of a creator's reach and community engagement. Following is mutual awareness - when you follow someone, they can see that you're a follower, fostering a sense of community and encouraging meaningful interactions.

User Profiles

Your profile is your identity within the TeX64 community. Add a profile picture (avatar) to put a face to your work, and write a brief bio to share your background, expertise, and interests. This personalization builds connection and helps other users understand who you are and why your work matters.

Your profile displays all posts you've published, arranged newest first, giving visitors a comprehensive view of your contributions to the community. Your profile also includes a private Saved Posts section visible only to you, your collection of reference materials and inspiration. Follower management tools let you see who follows you, and block users if needed. Think of your profile as your professional showcase - make it count.

Comments

Gallery posts include a comments section where the community can ask questions, provide feedback, and share insights. Comments enable direct dialogue between you and post authors, fostering meaningful discussion around techniques, design choices, and improvements. Well-moderated comments transform posts from static artifacts into dynamic learning conversations.

Comments are threaded, allowing you to reply to specific comments and maintain conversation flow. Authors can respond to questions and join discussions about their work. The comment section is governed by community guidelines emphasizing respect and constructive feedback. Off-topic, aggressive, or guideline-violating comments may be removed by moderators.

Reporting & Moderation

The Gallery is a moderated community, and all users are expected to follow community guidelines. If you encounter inappropriate content, spam, copyright violations, or abusive behavior, you can report it using the report function. Our moderation team reviews all reports carefully and takes appropriate action to maintain a welcoming, professional environment for everyone.

Community guidelines require respecting intellectual property rights, treating others with courtesy, avoiding spam and manipulation, and following TeX64's policies. Repeated violations may result in post removal or account suspension. Our goal is to keep Gallery a professional, respectful space where everyone can share, learn, and grow.

Privacy

Gallery offers two visibility modes for posts. Public posts are discoverable through the feed, search, tags, and trending. Link-only posts are visible only to those with the direct link - they don't appear in feeds or search results. Choose your visibility based on whether you're sharing with the entire community or just specific people.

You can change a post's visibility setting after publishing. You can also disable comments on specific posts if you prefer not to engage in discussion. Your profile information is manageable - be thoughtful about what personal information you share. The Gallery respects your privacy and gives you control over how your work and identity are shared within the community.

Best Practices Tips

To get the most from Gallery, follow these best practices. First, prioritize quality. Polish your documents, ensure proper formatting, and fix any obvious errors before posting. Well-crafted work attracts more engagement and makes a stronger contribution to the community.

Second, write thoughtful descriptions. Explain what you created, why you made it that way, what challenges you overcame, and what others can learn from your work. A well-written description can double the value of your post. Third, choose tags carefully - specific, relevant tags make your work findable for exactly the users who need it.

Fourth, engage with the community. Browse other posts, leave thoughtful comments, like work you appreciate, and follow creators whose work inspires you. Building genuine connections with other TeX users enriches everyone's experience. Finally, maintain a respectful, constructive attitude. Appreciate the knowledge and effort others share, give helpful feedback, and contribute to building a supportive community where everyone can learn and grow.

Tip: When you discover a useful technique or create something you're proud of, share it with Gallery. Your knowledge enriches the entire TeX64 community. Even techniques that seem simple to you might be exactly what another user needs to solve a problem they've been facing.
